Daybreak

June 12 – The Anchorage

Day 163 of 365

An ocean freighter, poised at anchorage on Lake Superior, awaits its turn to load grain in Duluth. The early morning light, a blend of magentas and blues, adds a quiet sense of anticipation to the scene.

The humid lake air enhances the changing hues of color as the sun slowly approaches the horizon. This short period just before sunrise is called the Blue Hour, named for the deep, rich colors that fill the sky before the sun appears.

When this first light of day finds you, it often brings a quiet sense of thankfulness for the simple ability to witness another morning. Creation shows us the Blue Hour as a gentle reminder of our Creator through the beauty of His world.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.” — Psalm 23:1–3

Fresh starts are an excellent way to set your course for the day ahead.

Have you had your Blue Hour today?
