June 16 – Hidden Beauty – Pink Lady Slipper
The Pink Lady Slipper is a rare wildflower usually found deep in the northern woodlands. As difficult as they can be to find, I discovered this one in a swamp behind my house.
The Pink Lady Slipper is a type of orchid native to North America. Its single pink flower, with a pouch-like lip, is truly a masterpiece of nature. Growing up to three feet tall, it blooms from late spring to early summer and thrives in acidic, well-drained woodland soils, especially in pine forests.
God places beautiful flowers in places where few people will ever see them — like the middle of a quiet swamp. The blossoms come and go, just like the seasons, and much like life itself. Their purpose is to reflect the beauty of creation and the glory of their Creator.
“Consider the wildflowers, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” — Luke 12:27
Seems like God plants us right where he wants us. Give thanks today for the providence that brought you here; it wasn’t an accident, but a blessing.
