April 11 – Wave Power
A Lake Superior storm builds powerful waves at Crystal Bay near Tettegouche State Park. You can feel the earth tremble as the waves slam against the rocky shoreline. With each towering crash, boulders along the shore roll and reposition themselves, completely at the mercy of the water’s force.
Many of the Great Lakes’ most historic shipwrecks occurred during the spring and fall “shoulder seasons,” when high temperature contrasts fuel the fiercest storms.
Though April is considered mid-spring in the Northland, along Lake Superior, it remains a battleground between seasons, and the lake often reminds us which force is stronger.
“May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy.” — Colossians 1:11
Storm waves reveal a strength far beyond our own. Yet the same God who commands the waters also strengthens His people. His power manifests not only in crashing waves but also in quiet endurance, steady patience, and faithful hearts. Creation showcases His might and His mercy.
