April 25 – Pure Power

Day 115 of 365

An April nor’easter stirs Lake Superior into a fierce display of wind and waves. Each surge crashes against these historic lighthouses, steadfast sentinels that have endured the fury of the big lake for more than a century.

Spring storms are uniquely dramatic. By April, Superior is often free of ice, yet still winter-cold beneath the surface. With nothing to temper its vast reach, powerful winds sweep across open water, building towering waves that can rival November’s fiercest gales along Park Point and Canal Park.

Something is awe-inspiring about watching these storms roll in. The thunder of the surf, the force of the wind, and the sheer energy of the lake draw people to its shores to witness nature’s raw strength.

“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made…” — Romans 1:20

In moments like this, it is easy to see His power on display. And when the storms of life rise around you, remember: the same hand that commands wind and wave can steady your heart and carry you through.
