April 20 – Stormy Waters

Day 110 of 365

fresh snow clinging to the cliff after another April blast. Winter never quite loosens its grip quietly along the North Shore. Cold lake water meeting shifting spring air masses often fuels these late-season storms, stacking wave upon wave and coating the landscape in white once more.

For a photographer, mornings like this are unforgettable. The roar of the surf, the sting of wind-driven spray, and the contrast of snow against deep blue water create a scene both fierce and beautiful. Photographers pull over in awe; cameras come out despite numb fingers.

Yet even as the storm rages, its days are numbered. The April sun climbs higher, snow recedes, and hidden buds prepare to open. Spring always advances.

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” — Psalm 91:1–2

Storms in life can feel relentless, like waves that never stop rolling in. But they, too, have their season. The wind forms strength, waiting deepens trust, and calmer waters eventually return.
