Eagle

April 6 – Eagle Eye

Day 96 of 365

Perched high on the peeling white limb of a birch tree, a bald eagle stands guard over its territory. Its piercing yellow eyes scan the horizon with intensity.

In 1782, the United States appropriately chose the bald eagle as its national emblem. These massive birds are natural marvels, reaching wingspans of up to seven feet and living up to thirty years in the wild. They mate for life and possess eyesight four times sharper than a human’s, allowing them to spot movement from incredible distances.

This ability to soar high above the earth makes the eagle a universal symbol of liberty, embodying resilience and the power to overcome challenges. Yet, beyond national symbolism, the eagle is a shadow of God’s attributes, reminding us to look up and rise above our earthly worries.

“Is it at your command that the eagle mounts up and makes his nest on high?” — Job 39:27

For His glory, God’s creation displays fantastic creatures. Next time you see a bald eagle soaring overhead, look past the bird and into the face of the God who created it.
