Chickadee

April 9 – Small but Mighty

Day 99 of 365

The little chickadee, a familiar sight in northern forests, is especially common around backyard bird feeders year-round. Their tiny, round bodies and distinctive black caps make them easy to spot, even in chilly winter months. Friendly and energetic, chickadees flit through the trees, filling the air with cheerful songs.

Although they seem carefree, they are always alert—watching for predators such as owls and hawks that threaten their safety. While chickadees can be difficult to photograph without a special lens, their curious nature means they sometimes allow people to approach quite closely before darting off.

The chickadee is an emblem of resilience and an example of character and adaptability that we can learn from every day.

“Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; They sing among the branches.” — Psalm 104:12

God created these remarkable little birds to remind us of His constant care and provision. Through their resourcefulness and strength, chickadees thrive despite challenges. If God watches over even the smallest creatures, how much more will He provide for you today?
