November
“When the leaves are gone, the sky begins to speak.”
November in the Northland
November settles quietly over the Northland. The brilliance of October has faded, and the landscape grows subdued. Bare branches stretch toward gray skies, and cooler winds sweep across the shoreline. Beauty is no longer loud — it is subtle, waiting to be noticed.
Lake Superior takes on a different grandeur this month. Powerful storms roll across its surface, and dramatic clouds break open to reveal long, glowing sunrises and lingering sunsets. The colors may be fewer, but they feel richer — concentrated into moments of quiet brilliance.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
November teaches us the grace of slowing down. Rest does not always come easily; it must be learned and received. As the land grows still and prepares for winter, we too are invited to pause, to trust, and to find true rest in the One who sustains us through every season.
