Gooseberry Falls

April 7 – April Snow at Gooseberry Falls

Day 97 of 365

A mid-April snowstorm has blanketed Gooseberry Falls in a beautiful coat of fresh white. The walking path around the falls was deep with wet, heavy snow, but the effort was worth it—the scenery was fantastic.

This storm hit right in the middle of spring runoff. The large volume of water cascading over the falls added a raw power to the scene. There is no stopping that water; in a few days, this snow will be gone, melting to join the rush.

The roar of the water combined with the quiet of the fresh snow provided a fleeting gift. My first thought was, “WOW.” My second was to praise God for such a wonderful creation.

“Then he showed me a river of the water of life, clear as crystal, coming from the throne of God and of the Lamb.” — Revelation 22:1

Heavy snow might seem out of place in a Northland spring, but it is a beautiful reminder of who really controls the seasons. Thank you, Lord.
